Surprisingly, Belle Sherman Elementary School is the only notable jungle gym in Ithaca. Even then, it's pathetic. While there are a few interesting structures on it, it's way too small to fill an entire workout.
Incidentally, we've noticed that, in general, large towns don't have decent jungle gyms. We're not sure why this is, but it may be related to real estate prices.
Anyway, there are some good problems here. I won't go into them because if you explore the underside of the entire gym in detail, you'll hit almost all of the problems and you'll still want more at the end.
Dryden has a decent sized jungle gym. Mark has explored it a bit, but I haven't. Since I'm writing this, it'll have to wait until he tells me what to put here.
I considered saying something like "This is a piece of junk, ignore it", because during the spring and summer of 1996, it was falling apart. However, later in the year repairs started showing up. Last we checked, it was still showing some age, but, apparently, it's not being completely ignored, so you might check it out.
There are definitely some excellent problems here. If they manage to fix it up completely, it will be an excellent jungle gym given it's close proximity to Cornell. However, I suspect that would require the use of a bulldozer and a brand new jungle gym construction kit, so I doubt that will be happening soon.
Just in case you're wondering, no, I wouldn't let a kid of mine play on it.
